PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately correct the positional relationship between a grinding wheel and a work, by accurately measuring a grinding wheel diameter, even if a touch sensor cannot be arranged on the rotational axis of the grinding wheel. SOLUTION: A diametrally unchangeable reference grinding wheel 22b is coaxially arranged with the grinding wheel 22a. Even if the rotational axis O of the grinding wheel 22a moves by thermal displacement, the reference grinding wheel 22b is similarly moved. As a result, a contact position Xa for contacting this reference grinding wheel 22b with a detecting pin 34 is determined, and next, a contact position Xb for contacting the touch sensor 50 with the detecting pin 34 is determined.
