PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescence detection method for a nucleic acid, simplifying the preparation of a hybridization probe to be used. SOLUTION: The detection method comprises measuring the change in fluorescence intensity due to the formation or dissociation of a hybrid of a target nucleic acid and a hybridization probe whose terminal is labeled with a fluorescent coloring matter selected from 6-carboxytetramethylrhodamine(TAMRA), 4,4-difluoro-5,7-dimethyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-s-indacene-3-propionic acid(BODIPY FL), 6-carboxy-4',5'-dichloro-2',7'-dimethoxyfluorescein(JOE), 5-carboxyfluorescein(FAM), 5-carboxy-X-rhodamine(ROX) and [(3,6,8-trisulfo-1-pyrenyl)oxy]acetohydrazide(Cascade Blue) and, based on the result, detecting the target nucleic acid.
