<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chitosan-containing assistant food exhibiting sufficient effects of the chitosan and capable of heightening the efficiency of absorption thereof in the body. <P>SOLUTION: The chitosan-containing assistant food is obtained by forming a mixed powder of a water-soluble chitosan powder and an expandable powder into a tablet, granule, capsule or powder shape. As a result, the water-soluble chitosan powder is gradually dissolved in water while the expandable powder gradually generates foam of carbon dioxide gas in the body. The aqueous solution of the chitosan powder is gradually absorbed in the body according to the gradually progressing foaming. Therefore, the chitosan dissolved in the water is accurately ingested and the absorbing efficiency of the chitosan taken into the body is extremely heightened because the aqueous solution of the chitosan is absorbed in the body according to the foam-generating phenomena over a long time.
