<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner for which the number of components is made small and the fitting work is facilitated by using a filter member having both of a function of collecting dust and a function of cleaning air by a photocatalyst. <P>SOLUTION: This air cleaner is provided with: a box unit 11 in which a flow passage of air going from an air intake 16 to a discharge port 17 is formed; the filter member 12 arranged in the middle of the air flow passage; and a first electric discharge tube 13 for irradiating the filter member 12 with ultraviolet rays. The filter member 12 is composed of a nonwoven fabric 19 in which many fibers 18 are intertwined with one another and which is formed into an almost rectangular parallelepiped. The photocatalyst 20 consisting of anatase type titanium dioxide (TiO<SB>2</SB>) is stuck/deposited onto the surfaces of the fibers 18 constituting the nonwoven fabric 19. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
