<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-invasive blood pressure measuring apparatus which assures safety according to the kind of a cuff by using a conventional and ordinary cuff as the cuff itself and discriminating the kind of the cuff concerning a method for discriminating the kind of a cuff for indirect blood pressure measurement connected to a non-invasive blood pressure measurement apparatus for carrying out the non-invasive blood pressure measurement and the non-invasive blood pressure measuring apparatus for carrying out the non-invasive blood pressure measurement. <P>SOLUTION: The kind of the cuff is discriminated by: a timing step of feeding air to the non-invasive blood pressure measurement and measuring a period from a time when cuff pressure reaches prescribed timing starting pressure to a time when the cuff pressure reaches prescribed timing finish pressure higher than the timing starting pressure; and a discrimination step for discriminating the kind of the cuff based on the period obtained by the measurement at the timing step.
