PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the failure caused by the difference in recording format when information is copied or moved between two recording media having different recording formats. SOLUTION: A device control unit 16 supplies UDF data employed by a DVD together with an ATAPI command used for recording in a DVD to a device control unit 17. The device control unit 17 converts the ATAPI command supplied from the device control unit 16 into an ATA command corresponding to the ATAPI command, supplies it together with the data supplied together with the ATAPI command to an HDD 18, and controls the recording of the UDF data in a hard disk 18A.
