PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electro-optical apparatus having a structure, wherein the visual angle range can be controlled at an arbitrary angle, without impairing transmittance, that is, without impairing brightness of display. SOLUTION: The electro-optical apparatus has a visual angle control element 2 and a display element 1. The visual angle control element 2 is provided with a liquid crystal layer, and the liquid crystal layer is so constituted that a state that light contributing to display is transmitted with light scattering and a state that the light is transmitted without relatively accompanying light scattering are respectively switched.
