PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a space for moving a front seat backward in an occupant protection device moving the front seat backward in a frontal collision. SOLUTION: A movable body 4 is disposed on a floor 4 between the front seat 2 and a rear seat 3, an actuator 9 for the movable body capable of moving the movable body to the rearward of a vehicle, and a collision prediction sensor 10 is provided on the front part of the vehicle. When the collision is predicted by the collision prediction sensor, the movable body is moved rearward to the vehicle. Since the movable body can be retracted rearward before the collision even if there is a rear passenger's foot or a baggage on the rear side of the front seat, they do not cause an obstruction in the case of the rear movement of the front seat. Since the space for movement is secured in the rear movement of the front seat in the collision, the occupant protection device can be not only suitably applied for a small sized vehicle but also for the pre-notification of the collision against the occupant when the occupant sits on the rear seat in common.
