PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator structured so that a cooling unit in which a cooler and defrost-associated components are installed in a single piece is to be mounted from an opening formed in the back of an inner box of a storage chamber, the cooling unit being able to perform fixation of the cooler certainly. SOLUTION: The refrigerator is structured so that the defrost-associated components of the cooler 20 are installed previously in a single piece so as to constitute the cooling unit 32, which is mounted to the opening formed in the back of the inner box of the storage chamber from the side filled with a foaming insulating material, wherein the cooling unit 32 is held by a holding member 31, and the installation of the unit 32 is facilitated by fixing a side face U-shape pipe of the cooler 20 using upper and lower fixing pawls 34 on the left and right formed in a single piece with the holding member 31, and also the use of outer plates (end plates) of the cooler 20 may be eliminated.
