PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the coating thickness without replacing a gravure roll made of a metal or a ceramic in a roll coater apparatus using the gravure roll. SOLUTION: The roll coater apparatus is for continuously carrying out coating on a passing plate material 5 by applying a coating material to a gravure roll 1 having a plurality of parallel grooves 1a arranged slantingly along the outer circumference and made of a metal or a ceramic and using the gravure roll and a pick up roll 2 for transferring and applying the coating material 4 to the outer circumference of the gravure roll is installed in the roll coater apparatus.
