PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lifting apparatus for a wheelchair which has a high degree of freedom of installation and is excellent in maneuverability while the safety is well secured. SOLUTION: This lifting apparatus for the wheelchair is so constituted as to be equipped with a pedestal 1 which is installed at the side of a lower floor surface G1 and a lifting table 2 which is lifted up and down against the pedestal 1 by a rise and fall driving means 11 and can load the wheelchair 60, and the rise and fall driving means 11 makes the lifting table 2 go far from and come close to the pedestal 1 by connecting two swinging arms 12 and 13 disposed between the pedestal 1 and the lifting table 2 to be relatively rotatable around approximate central positions and actuating those arms expanded and folded by the driving force of an actuator 14. Thereby, the rise and fall driving means 11 is located at the lower side of the lifting table 2 at anytime and does not project upward from the lifting table 2 so that the lifting apparatus for the wheelchair can be made more compact, the lifting apparatus for the wheelchair can always be installed without obstructing a passage, or the like, and the lifting apparatus for the wheelchair can be easily installed even in a narrow installation space.
