The invention relates to a method and an installation, preferably in district heating plants, for condensing flue gases in the combustion of hydrogenous or moisture-containing fuels. The flue gases are subjected to an initial cooling in a flue gas condenser, which produces a condensate, and a subsequent cooling in a rotatable regenerative heat exchanger, having an air side, through which combustion air passes in one direction to the combustion plant and a gas side, through which the flue gas from the combustion plant passes in an opposite direction.
