The device has a leveling structure (1) that holds a wheelchair in a constant position of 7 degree inclination with respect to a stair riser (2). The riser driven by two wheels is connected to a threaded bar and is operated by two electrical driving motors. A control unit controls the handling of the structure and the riser as a function of the inclination of the wheelchair as detected by an inclination sensor.
