Cracks produced when a catalyst is baked to a honeycomb structure are suppressed. In the honeycomb structure (1), a plurality of cells (5) partitioned by porous partition walls to serve fluid channels and a plurality of honeycomb segments (2) are bonded through a bonding material principally comprising a ceramic. Three point bending strength of a bonding layer (9) formed of the bonding material is set at 5 MPa or above, and shearing strength at the bonding part including the bonding layer (9) and the outer wall sandwiching it is set at 1 MPa or above.
