<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid discrimination method for discriminating fluid supporting particle groups showing different reflectivities, and to provide an apparatus therefor. <P>SOLUTION: Reflectivity is measured through the transparent window of a container housing a first fluid wherein a first particle group is supported by a support fluid being a substantially transparent fluid, a second fluid wherein a second particle group showing reflectivity lower than that of the first particle group is supported by a support fluid and a third fluid only comprising a support fluid not containing both of particle groups are housed through boundary surfaces. A reflecting plate having reflectivity between the reflectivities of the first and second particle groups is arranged in the container. Light containing a visible light component and light containing an infrared component are projected on the reflecting plate from the outside of the container and the respective reflected lights are received to measure the reflectivity (RK) of the visible light component and the reflectivity (RI) of the infrared component to discriminate the first-third fluids. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
