<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently desulfurizing molten steel by increasing a reacting interfacial area in comparison with a conventional method, when desulfurizing the molten steel by using Mg gas generated from MgO reduced by Al, during refinement in a vacuum degassing facility. <P>SOLUTION: The desulfurizing method comprises: spraying a powdery MgO source to the bath surface of the molten steel 3 which is being refined in the vacuum degassing facility 1 and is under reduced pressure, by using a top-blowing lance 13; thereby reacting MgO in the MgO source with Al previously added to the molten steel, Al added from a raw material slot 12 almost simultaneously with the MgO source, or Al blown from a top-blowing lance together with the MgO source, to generate the Mg gas; and desulfurizing the molten steel with the Mg gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
