PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting flicker noise in which detection time of flicker noise can be shortened. SOLUTION: Out of a large number of horizontal lines constituting a screen being picked up by one frame, two horizontal lines spaced apart by a predetermined number of intervals are set as a mean luminance calculating area, mean luminance of the mean luminance calculating areas of a plurality of frames is then calculated and multiplied by a product sum operation coefficient, and a flicker noise detection signal is created based on a value added with the multiplication results. The product sum operation coefficients cos0-cos5 and sin0-sin5 are determined by plotting a sin wave and a cos wave for one period at a pitch ofπ/3. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
