PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently reproducing a used toner carrier into reusable magnetic particles at a low cost without spoiling magnetic characteristics by heating and carbonizing the used toner carrier to remove only a deteriorated resin coating layer on the surface of a magnetic particle of the carrier. SOLUTION: Used toner carrier particles having electrification characteristic etc. decreased are supplied to a heating and carbonizing device and heat-treated under a carbonizing condition in a no-oxygen or poor-oxygen state to form carbonization products by carbonizing a resin coating layer formed on a magnetic particle surface of the carrier, the carbonization products are supplied to a heating and decarbonizing device and heat-treated under a condition of a reduction atmosphere of temperature a little higher than that of the decarbonization processing to burn only carbide of the resin coating layer on the carrier particle surface, and thus carbon is removed without changing the shape and particle size of the particle, thereby collecting reusable magnetic particles of a carrier.
