PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for generating ion having a function generating positive ions and negative ions and sending generated ions. SOLUTION: A first electrode 1 is installed on a circumferential surface of a rotating body 10 rotating by drive transmission of a motor 3, a second electrode 2 is arranged so as to face the first electrode 1 in one portion in the circumferential direction of the rotating body 10, the first electrode 1 and the second electrode 2 are connected to a step-up circuit 41, high AC voltage is applied across the first and second electrodes 1, 2 while the rotating body 10 is rotated, and positive ions and negative ions generated between the first and second electrodes 1, 2 are sent off by the action of air current generated between the first and second electrodes 1, 2 by rotation of the rotating body 10.
