PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet transport device capable of preventing a skew correction means from being deformed and damaged without impairing the visibility of the skew correction means, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A sheet transport means 7 for transporting a sheet and an abut member 8 abutted against the sheet transported on the upstream side in the sheet transport direction of the sheet transport means 7 to correct skewing of the sheet are covered with a cover member 9, and the cover member 9 is constructed to visually confirm the sheet transport means 7, the abut member 8 and the transported sheet covered with the cover member 9.
