PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device reducing a rotary shaft direction distance of an electric motor of the device by shortening a distance between a worm shaft and the electric motor. SOLUTION: This power steering device is provided with a steering shaft connected to a steering wheel, a steering state detection means provided on the steering shaft, the worm wheel provided on the steering shaft, the worm shaft engaged with the worm wheel, the electric motor provided on the worm shaft to impart steering assist torque to the steering shaft via the worm shaft and the worm wheel, a tooth part detection means provided on an outer peripheral side of the worm shaft to detect a tooth tip part or tooth bottom part of the worm shaft, and an electric motor control means for calculating a rotational angle of the electric motor based on the shaft direction position of the tooth bottom part of the worm shaft detected by the tooth part detection means and controlling the electric motor based on the arithmetic result.
