PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precipitator with superior solid-liquid separation efficiency for separating solid in water, in particular, separating solid from liquid by running water in the longitudinal direction of a rectangular tank. SOLUTION: The tank 1 is the rectangular type in plan view, and a feed chamber 2 is demarcated by a straightening board 3 at its front end side 1f. A sludge pit 5 is provided at the bottom of a precipitation chamber 4, adjacently to the straightening board 3. The tank bottom 6 in the rear side from the sludge pit 5 is formed in a down-grade (n) toward the sludge pit 5. A perforated baffle plate 7 is provided in an intermediate part in the longitudinal direction of the tank of the rear side from the sludge pit 5. An overflow part 8 is provided at the rear end 1r of the tank 1. The location and size of the baffle plate 7 is set to: 0.4S≤L≤0.7S, 0.9L×n≤C≤1.1L×n, 0.3D≤H≤0.6D in the figure.
