PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To let a conventional defrosting heater reach set temperature without using an exclusive heater, requiring much cost, and using electric power of the exclusive heater, although a heater for a switching chamber is used when set temperature in the switching chamber is switched from a strong side to a weak side in a conventional refrigerator. SOLUTION: This refrigerator is provided with a refrigerating chamber, an ice making chamber, the switching chamber, a vegetable chamber, and a freezing chamber and is provided with refrigerating cycle constituted by connecting a compressor, a condenser, a pressure reducing device, a cooling device or the like sequentially. An operation panel capable of changing temperature setting in each chamber, a temperature sensor for detecting temperature in each chamber, and an adjusting damper for adjusting temperature in each chamber are arranged in each chamber. The defrosting heater for defrosting in the cooling device and a defrosting temperature detection sensor for determining start/end of defrosting of the cooling device are provided. When set temperature is switched from a low side to a high side using the defrosting heater, defrosting is quickly performed to let the defrosting heater reach set temperature without requiring much cost.
