PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a halogenated aromatic amine, capable of simply producing the amine, while maintaining a high yield/high selectivity, by preventing dehalogenation reaction which is side reaction, when catalytic hydrogenation reaction of an aromatic halonitro compound is conducted. SOLUTION: This method for producing the halogenated aromatic amine comprises catalytically hydrogenating the aromatic halonitro compound with hydrogen gas in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst, such as a platinum catalyst, wherein the catalytic hydrogenation reaction is conducted by making carbon monooxide coexist, so that the dehalogenation reaction which is the side reaction is prevented, while controlling decrease in a hydrogenation rate of a nitro group to be low.
