PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium oxide-based fine wire-like product which is obtained at a low cost and has a long size. SOLUTION: The titanium oxide-based fine wire-like product is produced by a production method comprising a raw material vessel closing process for charging a coarsely crushed natural rutile coarse powder having particle diameters of >75 to <300μm into a raw material vessel in which a sodium hydroxide aqueous solution is accommodated and closing the vessel with a cap, a hydrothermal synthesis process for synthesizing the fine wire-like product by keeping the raw material solution in the closed raw material vessel at a prescribed temperature for a prescribed time, a solution neutralization process for neutralizing the solution containing the product after opening the raw material vessel, a washing process for washing the obtained product, a product separation process for separating the washed product into a gray product and a white product with a separation means, and an adsorbed water- and crystallization water-removing process for removing adsorbed water and crystallization water of the separated white product.
