PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water sucking up cylinder having excellent water retention/water-feeding capacity, provide a water-sucking up cylinder that can suck up water staying in soil and shows excellent root rot prevention effect not only on short trees but also on tall trees, and provide a water sucking up cylinder that is useful for feeding water to cultured plants on wall face, slope face, artificial revetment, and the like. SOLUTION: A cylindrical cloth bag is filled inside with ceramic powder 2 having fine holes bored on the surface in a pore diameter of less than 0.85 mm to prepare a cylindrical body that can suck up the water staying in the soil, particularly a cylindrical water-sucking body in which the packing density of the ceramic powder is more than 1.2 g/cm<SP>3</SP>in the cylindrical body. A water-sucking up cylinder for sucking up the water staying in the soil and a water-sucking up cylinder for feeding water to wall faces, slope faces, artificial revetment, and the like are also disclosed.
