The present invention relates to preparing a test strip or sheet, e.g. of nitrocellulose card, for use in a lateral flow analytical device for detecting one or more analytes in a liquid sample. According to the invention, errors in the provision of such test strips are prevented by use of soluble colourants in the spraying stage of the manufacturing process for provision of immobilized specific binding reagents in detection zones.
