A novel polypeptide having a vascular endothelial cell growth inhibiting activity, an activity of inhibiting the transcription from c-fos promoter, an activity of inhibiting the transcription from E2F promoter, an activity of inhibiting the transcription from API promoter, an activity of inhibiting VEGF activity, an activity of inhibiting the transcription from NFkappaB promoter and/or an activity of inhibiting vascularization. There is further provided a polynucleotide coding for the polypeptide. Still further, there is provided a pharmacological composition for the treatment of disease selected from the group consisting of articular rheumatism, chronic inflammation, retinopathia diabetica, atherosclerosis and cancer, which pharmacological composition comprises the above polypeptide and/or polypeptide; and provided a method of treating these diseases. These have been accomplished by isolating of novel peptide having the above activities and nucleotide coding for the peptide.
