<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming support apparatus wherein image data for the CTP can be used by on-demand print and the sharpness of characters and line drawings in the case of gradation conversion can be maintained. <P>SOLUTION: A flowchart denoting one example of processing flows executed by a video interface includes: steps 102, 104 for applying edge discrimination to image data with high gradation and high resolution generated for the CTP by N×M blocks each; a step 108 of applying binary processing to edge parts so as to keep 0 and 255 as they are; a step 106 of applying de-screening to other parts than the edge parts by using a low pass filter; a step 110 of applying black letter discrimination to the edge parts; a step 112 of resetting CMY data as to black letter parts; and a step 116 of composing the respective images to convert the resolution and generating image data so as to convert the image data with high resolution and low gradation into image data with low resolution and high gradation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
