PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit for an air conditioner capable of easily mounting a compressor chamber front plate. SOLUTION: An outer case (not shown in Figure) having a compressor chamber (not shown in Figure) incorporating a compressor (not shown in Figure), is composed of a top plate (not shown in Figure) mounted on a top face, a blowout port front plate 12 mounted on a blowout port (not shown in Figure), the compressor chamber front plate 13 covering a front part of the compressor chamber and a right-side plate 16 covering a side face part. A plurality of approximately L-shaped locking claws 20 are mounted on both side end parts of the compressor chamber front plate 13, a plurality of engagement holes 21 respectively engaged with the locking claws 20 are formed on end parts of the blowout port front plate 12 and the right-side plate 16, projecting parts 22 are formed on end parts of the blowout port front plate 12 and the right-side plate 16, and holding parts 23 engaged with the projecting parts 22 when the compressor chamber front plate 13 is slid to a final mounting position, are formed on both side end parts of the compressor chamber front plate 13. As the compressor chamber front plate 13 is temporarily fixed by the projecting parts 22 and the holding parts 23 to be prevented from dropping to a lower part, the mounting work can be easily performed by one person.
