POLYSTYRENE RESIN FOAM PARTICLE, ITS PRODUCTION METHOD, AND FOAMED AND MOLDED PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polystyrene resin foam particle and a foamed and molded product capable of improving crack resistance while maintaining compression resistance of a polystyrene resin. SOLUTION: Preliminary foamed polystyrene resin particles and soft resin emulsion with a glass transition temperature of between -20°C and 50°C (e.g., ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin emulsion) are mixed. The whole surfaces of resin particles are coated with the soft resin emulsion and then the surfaces are dried, so as to form soft resin films on the whole surfaces of the foamed particles. A mold is filled with the resultant and then heated for foaming the resultant within the mold, thereby producing a polystyrene resin foamed and molded product with the entire surface coated with a soft resin layer.
