PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording device capable of performing magnetic recording at a high speed and a high density by suppressing a reduction in an overshoot current, and a write driver circuit for a magnetic head used in the magnetic recording device. SOLUTION: In the write driver circuit for the magnetic head where a damping resistance circuit for matching impedance with the magnetic head is connected to a recording current energizing circuit for energizing a normal recording current to the magnetic head and energizing an overshoot current immediately before the normal recording current is energized, the damping resistance circuit reduces damping resistance between both ends of the magnetic head less than that during the energization of the normal recording current when the overshoot current is energized, and energizes a current toward the magnetic head.
