PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot which can reproduce read voice with intonation or the like, and also perform operation in accordance with a message. SOLUTION: The robot is provided with; a data receiving means for receiving in batch a voice synthesis data consisting of an utterance character string showing characters to be pronounced and a pronunciation character string that describes a control sign, as text, for controlling the intonation and pronunciation length of the utterance characters in time order to pronounce, and an operation data to instruct operation; a voice reproducing means for interpreting the voice synthesis data and reproducing the data into voice; and an operation control means for interpreting the operation data and performing operation in synchronism with the voice reproduced by the voice reproducing means.
