PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor employing a method for producing a charge transporting substance having preferable characteristics with high yield, to provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor manufactured by the above method, and also to provide a process cartridge and an electrophotographic apparatus having the electrophotographic photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor includes a charge transporting substance synthesis process to synthesize the charge transporting substance by amination of a halogenated aromatic compound with an amine compound in the presence of a base, a coating liquid preparation process to prepare a coating liquid for the layer containing the charge transporting substance by using the synthesized charge transporting substance, and a layer formation process to form a layer containing the charge transporting substance by using the prepared coating liquid. In the charge transporting substance synthesis process, an alkyl phosphorus compound having a phosphorus atom coupled with at least one hydrogen atom and a metal-containing compound are used as a catalyst.
