PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel sheet for nitriding treatment in which a dimensional change in nitriding treatment and its anisotropy are reduced. SOLUTION: Regarding the steel sheet, in the thin steel sheet used by being subjected to nitriding treatment after press forming, the average r value is≥0.9 and the absolute value ¾Δr¾ of the anisotropy in the r value defined by the formula of ¾Δr¾=¾(r<SB>0</SB>-2r<SB>45</SB>+r<SB>90</SB>)/2¾ is≤0.4; wherein, r<SB>0</SB>denotes the r value in the direction of 0 degrees to the rolling direction; r<SB>45</SB>denotes the r value in the direction of 45 degrees to the rolling direction; and r<SB>90</SB>denotes the r value in the direction of 90 degrees to the rolling direction.
