PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high density compact of≥7.10 Mg/m<SP>3</SP>free from the generation of galling flaws even regarding a compact with a complicated shape by effectively preventing the sticking of metal powder to a die. SOLUTION: Metal powder is paced into a die whose surface is provided with a ceramic layer, and having a surface hardness of≥2,000 by a Vickers hardness and a surface roughness of 0.001 to 0.1μm by an arithmetic average roughness Ra, and compacting is performed.
