PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for restraining the thermal-crown of a hearth roll, and a continuous annealing method for steel sheet by which the meandering and the buckling of the steel sheet can efficiently be restrained. SOLUTION: The method for restraining the thermal-crown of the hearth roll 20 arranged at the outlet side of a gas-water cooling device 10 for cooling the continuously cast steel sheet 6, is characterized in that the water is jetted onto at least the outer surface 22 at the center part in the axial direction of the hearth roll 20.
