PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of enhancing the productivity, when using a large capacity storage device, the data transfer speed of which is slower than that of a scanner and a printer. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with an original read means for reading first and second originals; a large capacity storage means for storing the image data of first and second original pages read by the original read means; and the image forming apparatus reserves consecutive unit storage areas for areas to store the image data of the second original, while the read means reads the first original and stores the image data by each of the first and second original pages to the consecutively reserved storage areas, when a plurality of the unit storage areas of the large capacity storage means sequentially store the image data of the first and second original pages.
