PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Stirling engine for stabilizing the centering of a displacer and a piston, simplifying its processes, and shortening its time, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The displacer 2 has a displacer jet 16 for jetting operating medium from an internal space 15 toward a cylinder sliding face 10. A rod 3 has a rod jet 18 for jetting the operating medium from an axial through-hole 3a toward a piston sliding face 14. During centering, gas is filled from a nozzle inserted into an front end 17 of the rod 3 into the through-hole 3a. Thus, the gas is jetted from the rod jet 18 into a space between a rod sliding face 12 and the piston sliding face 14, and at the same time the gas is jetted from the displacer jet 16 into a space between a displacer sliding face 11 and the cylinder sliding face 10.
