<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a guide section which guides a recording medium and can be opened/closed. <P>SOLUTION: A secondary transfer roll storage section 81 is fixed in a main body 12 of an image forming apparatus and stores a secondary transfer roll 80, an energization section 100 and a first detection section 102 therein. The energization section 100 includes an elastic member 104 and a cam 108 which turns around a shaft part 106 as an axis, one end of the elastic member 104 is fixed on a shaft part 110 of the secondary transfer roll 80, and another end of the elastic member 104 is pressed onto the cam 108 via a backing plate 112. The front side (the left side in the figure) of a first opening/closing part 18 becomes a first guide section 116 for guiding a recording medium and the first opening/closing part is opened/closed around a turning fulcrum 17 of rotation with respect to the main body 12 of the image forming apparatus. The front side of a second opening/closing part 20 becomes a second guide section 118 for guiding the recording medium, and the second opening/closing part is opened/closed around a turning fulcrum 19 of rotation with respect to the main body 12 of the image forming apparatus.
