<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the data write failure of a flash memory as degradation previously before its occurrence. <P>SOLUTION: Table data into which the erasure time of each sector is written in the initialization processing of the flash memory is previously provided. In the start of erasure production of the flash memory, the erasure time of a sector 1 is measured (S 11) and the erasure time of the sector 1 is fetched (S 12), The magnitude of both the erasure times is compared (S 13). When the measured erasure time is shorter than the erasure time of the table data, the erasure time is updated to the erasure time of the table data (S 14). Also, when the erasure time stored in the table data is shorter, whether the difference between both erasure times is smaller or larger than a specified value is checked (S 15) and if the difference is larger, warning as the deterioration of the flash memory (S 16)is carried out.
