<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire an edge image in a short time by discriminating the edge of a photographed image even if the photographed image is a color image. <P>SOLUTION: In contour acquiring processing of the image of an original 2, a digital camera 1 forms a reduced image from the photographed image, and acquires the reduced image of each of RGB components from the formed reduced image. The digital camera 1 acquires an edge binary image of each component from a reduced image of each component. The edge binary images of each of the components are synthesized to acquire a synthesized edge binary image.
