PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding member capable of decreasing the unevenness of a surface areal rate occupied by a resin in its depth direction from the surface of a metal-sliding layer as less as possible, and stabilizing the sliding characteristics. SOLUTION: This sliding member is provided by processing for forming recessed parts 3 on the surface of the metal-sliding layer 2 and also impregnating a resin 4 in the recessed parts 3 so as to make≥50 % surface areal rate occupied by the resin 4 at an optional depth until 0.1 mm from the surface of the metal-sliding layer in its depth direction.
