PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable device for extending a usable time after a battery is once charged from the outside, and reducing a temperature rise in the device. SOLUTION: The portable device has the battery for storing electricity, a thermal conversion element 22 in which one of two facing conductor plates faces an electronic component side and the other conductor plate faces the outside, and generating an electromotive force between the two conductor plates when a thermal difference is generated between the two conductor plates, an internal temperature sensor 27 for measuring the temperature of the conductor plate on the electronic component side, an external temperature sensor 26 for measuring the temperature of the conductor plate at the outside, a changeover switch 25 for connecting positive and negative electrodes of the thermal conversion element and the battery, and a control circuit 15 for comparing the temperatures from the internal and external temperature sensors at fixed intervals and connecting the changeover switch so as to match polarity types of the thermal conversion element and the battery in response to the temperature difference if there is the difference between the temperatures from the internal and external temperature sensors.
