PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a method for forming an image by which problems about conflicting characteristics as deposition property against foreign matters and wear resistance characteristics of an organic photoreceptor are solved together, and deterioration in a halftone image can be prevented and production of dash marks or transfer memory can be prevented even when a toner apt to impose foreign matters or scratches on the photoreceptor surface onto an image is used. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has an organophotoreceptor having a surface layer which contains polycarbonate having a structural unit expressed by general formula (1) and an antioxidant, and has a developing means containing a toner having toner particles with 1.2 to 1.6 shape factor by≥65 pieces%.
