PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce preparation time of data recording for a multi-layered recording type optical recording medium. SOLUTION: Two recording layers L0 and L1 are provided on an optical disk. For the recording layer L0, an optimum recording power OP0 is measured and obtained by optimum power calibration which is conducted through the evaluation of trial writing of a recording mark into a test region and the reproduced result of the written recording mark. On the other hand, for the recording layer L1, an optimum recording power OP1 is computed and obtained by multiplying the ratio (a/b) of the amplitude of an S curve at the both recording layers L0 and L1 of FE signals at the time of a focus search by the measured optimum recording power OP0 of the recording layer L0.
