摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the manufacturing efficiency of a glass substrate for an information recording medium chamfered at an inner peripheral end surface and an outer peripheral end surface and to manufacture even a glass substrate of a small diameter with high efficiency. SOLUTION: Molten glass 3 is press formed by using a metal mold 2 which is installed vertically with a cylinder 24 at the center of the base surface of a blind hole 25 and is continuously formed with a forming surface corresponding to a chamfering shape at an outer peripheral end surface of the glass substrate on an inner peripheral wall, and thereby a glass substrate precursor 4 continued axially with a chamfered shape on the outer peripheral surface and formed with a through-hole 41 at the center is formed. The glass substrate precursor 4 is cut perpendicularly to an axial direction and is divided to the respective glass substrates 5'. Next, the glass substrates are subjected to a lapping treatment and a polishing treatment if necessary, and thereby the glass substrates as the products are manufactured. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
