PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which automatically reproduces main content. SOLUTION: The data quantity of content is detected. A content whose data quantity is maximum is determined to be the main content. Whether a skip is effective or ineffective is detected till the main content is started to read. When the skip is effective, skipping is carried out, and the content is output when the skip is ineffective.
