<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a membrane-electrode junction, while maintaining the battery functions thereof. <P>SOLUTION: Pores 21 of an electrode catalyst layer 20 in the membrane-electrode junction 4a are formed into a crucible shape. Preferably, the average inner diameter of the crucible-shaped pores 21 is 0.125 to 0.30 μm, and the diameter of an inlet 21a serving as an inlet of gas is 40 to 45 nm. Mutually exclusive events of proper draining properties of water generated and appropriate humidity-maintaining properties are reconciled with each other by forming the pores into crucible shapes, and durability is improved by preventing drying. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
