PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide set standby radio equipment, capable of observing and performing time coincidence of the delay times that occur in a current/standby system according to the input point of a transmission change-over switch, and to provide its current/standby switching method. SOLUTION: This set standby radio equipment has a directional coupler 10 for branching transmission outputs of respective current/standby transmitting parts; a frequency-converting part 11 for converting, in frequency, transmission frequencies of the respective branched current/standby transmission outputs into intermediate frequencies by a common oscillator 12; an AM demodulator 13 for demodulating an AM component of a clock period of the intermediate frequencies of the respective converted current/standby transmission frequencies; a comparator 14 for comparing respective AM-modulated components of the AM-demodulated current/standby intermediate frequencies to detect the delay time difference between the both systems; and a delay compensator 15 for correcting the delay time difference between respective current/standby transmission outputs, based on the comparing means.
